Antiques for Today's Lifestyes

Many customers today enjoy a wide range of choices when it comes to furnishing and accessorizing their home.  Yet oftentimes, pieces from different eras or generations are overlooked.  Why not choose items from the past?  Using treasures from the past connects you with your family or heritage or, shows special interest in those items which can be shared with others.

 

Howard Wiggins Interior Design was recently contacted by a client to create an environment which would enhance the architectural detailing in one of the main bath areas of their home.  One of the first priorities of the design firm was to preserve the light coming in from the full length window to the main bath area by adding privacy.  Howard Wiggins Interior Design chose Solar Insulation to add two layers of window film, which included a UV tint on the outside of the window and a frosted tint on the inside of the window, framing only the tip of the window with a swag and jabot for refined elegance.  A marble bust and pedestal were placed in front of the window to further highlight the theme of classical antiquity repeated by the pair of grand marble Corinthian columns flanking the raised bath tub.  A painted canvas depicting a mural of a bathing scene of the same classical period was added above the tub as a colorful focal point against the subdued palette of taupe painted walls.  To further  warm and soften the effect of travertine marble and inlaid mosaic tile used throughout the bath, a striped fabric bench fitted with tassels and adorned with classical style ram heads was angled toward the tub to complete a very inviting scene.
