See how furniture functions as art.

Rarely do we get the opportunity to design an art inspired space. Meet our client Jeff Ponchillia. Jeff recently purchased a very contemporary condo. A place where he and his son could live without a lot of up keep. When decorating a contemporary home, less is more and every piece of furniture counts. It has to look great while also function well in the space. One of the best features of his home is the view. It's absolutely breathtaking. When we met Jeff he had already purchased the curved sofa and two black leather chairs. He just didn't have them placed properly to take advantage of his view. So we move them. When you purchase a home in a high rise you are paying for that view. So make sure it's your primary focal point. Our client is also a big sports enthusiast and enjoys watching several games at the same time. Three large flat screen televisions were on his wish list as well as a great surround system. The TV's were mounted on the wall so that they not only looked great but it made it easy to view several games at once. Television components are not very interesting to look at and they should remain out of sight. A floating entertainment center was designed to house all of the TV components. Our next challenge was how to hide a 27 inch computer monitor, key board, and printer. The goal here was to utilize our space without it looking like a home office. To do this we designed another piece of art that doubled as a computer work station. When closed it functions as art. When open it becomes a home office. Speaking of art, when you have a high ceilings and large empty walls your art becomes very important. It should be large in scale and each piece should complement one another, not compete with each other. To add a little warmth to our space we added two wall mounted ventless gel burning fireplaces. Four bar stools, a shag rug, and new light fixtures completed our project. Looking back, this was one of our most memorable projects. This project was completed in three weeks. It's not everyday that we get to design functional art.
