Learn how to avoid a full blown kitchen renovation by tweeking its appearance every couple of years.

Sometimes all a kitchen really needs is a little nip and tuck. That was the case for Kim's kitchen. It just needed a mini face lift. Listen up people. I'm going to let you in on a little secret. Home buyer's today expect updated kitchens and baths. So if you have not touched your kitchen in 15 or 20 years you are devaluing your largest investment, your home. If you tweak your kitchen's appearance every few years you can avoid the cost of a full make-over, and a full face lift on a kitchen can be quiet painful and expensive.

In Kim's case her cabinets and appliances were in great shape. So we kept them. The laminate counter tops on the other hand were hurting her overall investment. People expect upgraded counter tops in certain priced homes. So we decided to change them. Kim didn't want her kitchen to look like all of her neighbor's homes, cherry cabinets with granite counter tops. Remember, it's ok to be different. It will make your home stand out in a sea of cookie cutter homes. Our choice for the counter tops was arcusstone. It looks like stone without the price of stone. This product is so versatile it can be colorized in almost any hue and your pattern options are endless. Arcusstone can be placed over your existing counter tops keeping the cost and the mess to a minimum. Take a look at the pictures, we used arcusstone on the counter top's, back splash, and the bar area of Kim's cabinets. The wall color was a soft yellow color. By adding a gold glaze over them it added warmth and depth to our space. A black and gold diamond pattern wallpaper on the ceiling accomplished two different things: 1. It ties in her black appliances. 2. It gives you a reason to look up so that you notice the architectural elements in this space. Kim already owned her dinette and the wine cabinets. Adding updated lighting and a few accessories completed our project. So you see a little nip and tuck can give you a mini face lift without breaking the bank.
