Tweaking your home keeps your home updated.

Sometimes we all need a little make over to feel good about ourselves.  The same goes for your home.  When you live in a beautiful and functional space you feel good about yourself.  You tend to share your home with others which makes you feel good as well.  Updating your home can be costly if you're doing a complete makeover.  The trick to keeping your home updated is to tweak it every couple of years.     Meet our client's Mickey and Morry Trent.  The Trent's,  like many of our clients,  wanted to update their family room without breaking the bank.  They still loved their furniture and accessories,  they just wanted to jazz up the space.  If you find yourself getting a little bored with your surroundings and your not ready to start all over, call  a professional designer to give you some advice.  The one thing that I have found over the years is that home owner's get use to seeing their homes a certain way and they can't imagine them any other way.  When in fact there are lots of ways to refresh a room.  In our example,  the Trent's had their walls faux painted a couple of years ago and they still looked great.  The color palette was brown and gold in this space.  In order to jazz up this space we needed to add some color.  So we convinced them to purchase a new rug.  This new rug had a lot of colors to work with thus making this purchase a good one,  because they can change their color palette later on by choosing other colors from this rug (i.e. tweaking their space again).  Next, we painted the ceiling and the back door in a red.  The trim, fireplace and baseboards were painted in a brown color.  Mickey is rather crafty herself so we asked her to faux paint her entertainment cabinet in a color that was in her new rug.  Step number three was to rearrange the furniture and the accessories.  We deleted just a few things but not much.  The only other things that we added to this space was a chair, bunching tables, pharmacy lamps, new draperies, and pillows for the sofa.  Everything else the Trent's already owned.  So you see if you tweak your spaces every couple of years,  you will get a new lease on the items that you already own.
